I absolutely love this time of year, and I'm guessing most Minnesotans do. The fresh, crisp, chilly air, leaves changing their color, cozy sweaters, scarves, wool and leather coats, hot drinks, comfort food, and of course, smartwool socks.
Along with fall comes one of my favorite things-apple picking.
Although it seemed early this season, the apples were perfect for picking. David, Victoria, and I joined the rest of the Bielejeski's for a warm afternoon of apple picking on a privately owned orchard.
David's siblings and parents took turns holding Victoria, keeping to the shade of trees to make sure Victoria did not get too heated from the sun. This left me and David able to explore the orchard and fill our bags. We taste tested the proper way by sinking our teeth into the sun warmed apple skins, letting the juices run down the sides of our mouths.
When we had finished, the kids decided to make a team effort in making fresh apple cider for the whole family the old fashion way with a cider press. Their hard work was worth it and the tasty treat was a perfect way to end our trip to the orchard.
